Sea change

We waited a little too long to catch a weather window to leave the San Blas and had to go with a bit more seas than we’d normally choose to sail in.  High winds in the region had kept the ocean swells above 10 ft, but at least they were behind us so we surfed Reach all the way to Colón over a 2 day trip.

We could see fellow cruisers on the same route were also handling the waves quite fine.  Well, we could see them most of the time…!

This is the first time we found ourselves on a “schedule” for passage-making.  Our passport Visas are almost expired, so we must leave the country of Panama to get another country stamp.  We decided to make a trip of it and are heading to Perú for a month-long land trip with Keith & Jaime (Kookaburra).  This adventure will take us from sea level to over 2-miles above it at the height of our trip in Lake Titicaca!

While we are inland traveling Reach is safely docked in Shelter Bay marina.

Here, we had a happy reunion with Nick & José (Jedi) after not seeing each other for 3 years.

Gotta love how travel & time brings friends and family back together again eventually!

Perú trip highlights will be posted in real-time on our Facebook page CruisingOnReach and the blog will be updated upon our return to sea level…  ciao for now.
