We’re back in our comfy home again on Reach after an eventful month's trip to Peru. It is a memorable country with quite a diverse geography for us sea dwellers. We can now place the experience of a blizzard at 16,000 ft in the Andes under our belts!
Several cruising friends have taken a similar trip and we benefited significantly from their advice and encouragement ~ thanks especially to Steve & Connie (Better Days) and Dave & Wendy (Elysium) for detailed insider information. We used the same travel agent, Maria from OverPeru (highly recommended) to book our itinerary and more than once we were glad to have her help behind the scenes!
Traveling with Keith & Jaime (Kookaburra) made the whole experience even better, still smiling all the way and not just because we found a Guinness at 11,000+ ft.
We made for a merry, adventuresome group ready for anything thrown our way… think bus delays, train strikes, Inca's revenge, etc. Pachamamma (mother earth) even allowed flash floods, blizzards & land-slides to cross our path, so you simply must be flexible when covering so much ground across half of an entire country.

There are plenty of highlights (& photos!) to share. We also “discovered” panorama mode on our cameras, so for now I’ll use that to give you a condensation of why we are in awe of Peru for it’s history, pre-Inca and Inca alike, and geography ~ melded together in some of the most amazing archeological sites we’ve ever visited!
