We are ready to leave our home of almost 5 months. Did I just say that?! Chalk it up to naivety - this was our first lightning strike after all (preferably our last!).
...There was that time that we thought we'd be out by Thanksgiving... but that was when our insurance report was completed and claim approved. √ Check - there was now money in the bank.
...Then there was that time when we thought we'd be finishing up by Christmas and out of the marina by the end of the year... we were so cute in 2011! By this time, orders were placed and items were being shipped.
...Then there was that time when we thought all of this expensive, shiny new equipment would work as specified... now we know better!
Until now, we have not had much experience in marinas. They are usually a place where we pull in for fuel or a haul-out and then promptly return to our own private anchor spot. Shelter Bay marina turned out to be a pleasant place to be "stuck" and gave us a realistic outlook on marina life.

So here we sit in slip D-7...
Major systems a-go...
Provisions stowed...
Ready to toss the lines and sail away.
