Back in Paradise

Sailing out of the marina one fine day, we were loaded with provisions and full tankage towards our destination in the San Blas Islands.  We arrived two days later after a lumpy slog into the prevailing easterly tradewinds.

Everything worked reasonably well, even though half of our boat instruments were new and the other half were unused for the last few months.  Our autopilot compass was off by about 15 degrees, so after a few crazy-Ivans for calibration, it was close enough.

We're thrilled to be back in  paradise, reunited with Kaya, Morgan & Sawadi in a lovely anchorage, practicing yoga daily with the local Kuna kids joining in, consuming books, stealing hammock-time and getting wet again!  The water is clear and calm behind the reefs and afternoons are spent in the sea for photography and fishing.

Photographing aquatic life is proving to be at least as challenging as avian life.  Not only do fish and birds have great camouflage, but they also tend to move when you try to snap a picture!

Mark brought home a nice dog snapper and handful of squid for dinner on his first underwater outings.  Here he is demonstrating the excitement of the hunt when he caught the fish poking his nose out of a hole in the reef...
