Reuniting with friends is one of the highlights of the cruising lifestyle, in addition to meeting new friends. When sailing together, it's not uncommon that one boat takes a temporary detour to take a different route, run an errand, travel inland, repair or replace boat parts, or just get lost for a while. The anticipation of crossing paths again provides great incentive to plan parties and catch up on stories.

After reconnecting with Lizz and Charlie (Kaya) following our marina stay, we also met and hung out with Stefan (Sawadi) & Gretchen, Frank & dog Loki (Infinity). Together, this group has many common interests, sharing and consuming food being one of the most popular. Fishing provides us plenty to work with for sushi nights, besides being a good excuse for the guys to snorkel out on the reefs for hours every day. The majority of this contingent are avid kite-boarders. We all cook and swap recipes, explore and share "secret" island spots, swim and point out sea creatures to each other.

Recently, friends Liesbet & Mark (Irie) sailed into the Hollandes Cays to join the fleet. We hadn't seen them in over a year and a half, since we left Grenada in the fall of 2010! Staying in touch on the internet kept us in-tune with each others' plans and we were happy to hear that they were heading this way. We joined them on Irie for a fabulous brunch (Bloody Mary's in hand), followed by potlucks, pizza, more sushi, etc, etc... We took advantage of sunny afternoons so Liesbet could try out her new underwater camera. There is still much to catch up on, but it looks like there will be lots of time for that. In the meantime, there is more playing and eating to do!
