MobileMe, the convenient website host for Apple's iWeb program, is going away in 2012. I could continue to use iWeb with another host, yet would lose the ability to receive comments among other features. Now, why would anyone want to have a website without comments? It's too much fun hearing from you and Comments remind us that we're not just sending words out into the ether.
That said, I'm trying this new website design program called Sandvox. Let us know what you [really] think!! (...still under construction...)
It has the ease of use of iWeb for Site Navigation, Google Maps, iPhoto drag & drop into Photo Galleries, plus a few other new features that I like:
- The Photo Collection grid on the Welcome page updates automatically with each new entry in Photo Galleries
- Real-time RSS feeds of friends' Cruising Blogs along-side our own
- Comments provider available for Blog entries and Photo Galleries/Pictures
- Ability to cut & paste in all historical Blog entries from the last 3 years - losing links & comments though :(
What I really miss in this new software is the ability to format each blog entry as a unique collage of text and graphics. There is no ability to edit, crop or stack my pictures and I can only pull in photos to be placed in-line or wrapped-around my text at this time.
So I lose a little artistic freedom, but also hope to find new outlets for creativity using this new software.
P.S.: Don't forget to re-subscribe to the RSS Feed of our new Cruising Blog if interested. Hope you ENJOY!
