We left Reach in Shelter Bay amongst other cruising boats on the docks & on the hard, including friends’ boats Cattleya (Wildcat35) and Siga-Siga (Moody44).
Taking the bus from Colón, we had a quick stop-over in Panama City before our flight to the States. We stayed with Deb at her place in Marbella ~ ours & many cruisers’ home away from home! The picnic table that was from the original cruiser’s casa and signed by all of her cruiser friends brings a colorful palette to the sitting room.
We made use of the fantastic new cinta costera (coastal strip) that lines the Pacific waterfront with a walkway, bike path, exercise equipment, courts and playgrounds. There are people out exercising at all times of the day and night, signaling an increasingly healthy and family-friendly city. The strip took us past the Fish Market and docks to Casco Viejo (the old city) for a night out with friends.
In Casco Viejo we met up with Mike & Claire (Siga-Siga) and Gordon & Elise (C-Lise II) in a new brew pub call La Rana Dorada.
How exciting ~ we’d been looking for good beers without success in San Andrés!
Now we could get proper microbrew training for our upcoming trip to the States.
After a pleasant Bolivian dinner with great company at a restaurant across from the old church, we returned to Deb’s place to get some sleep for an early morning flight…
…the San Blas islands & reef visits will have to wait until our return.
