The weather in the San Blas has been amazingly calm for this time of year. Not only is there little to no wind, but the waters are almost stagnant which is unusual. Typically there is at least a hint of an ocean swell coming around the islands from across the fetch of the Caribbean, bringing with it some currents, fresh cool waters and fish.
Even so, Mark and Keith took to the reefs and have provided us with yummy dinners, while Jaime and Michele were again able to snorkel from the boat without worrying about getting swept away by currents (yet).
Thankfully, I put in my order for snapper so that we could have a sushi night!
Such conditions make for great paddle boarding weather… no wonder everyone we know has one of these!
There was zero hope of wind by the time we were ready to move anchorages. The dolphins didn’t mind that we were motoring and still came to greet us on the bows.

I got to try out one of the Kooks’ paddle boards and it was quite fun! With Jaime, we paddled over to a nearby island to visit some Kuna friends and buy a mola (or two). This young family lives away from their village on this out-island for 6 months each winter, whom we met the last time we were here.
Liscara showed me her current mola project (toy monkey not included).
A few of the geometric patterns are still being worked on…
I admit I still don’t quite understand how these patterns are sewn, but you can see how intricate the stitching is.
Her little girls Lismida and Lisabet are beautiful and now have a little brother. However, they are also total imps & you have to watch out for them or they’ll grab your bag/glasses, climb up your legs, etc, but they have so much personality they’re irresistible.
On a subsequent visit I remembered to bring my camera... and so did Lismida!
