The best part about expanding underwater horizons is that you're virtually guaranteed to run into a new find every day. A few recent identifications include this true tulip snail and a rosy blenny.
A sand tilefish provided good entertainment behind Reach as it built and tended a massive burrow made of rubble and sand. Nearby, another pygmy octopus was hiding in a conch shell, not much bigger than my thumb, pretending not to notice that it was being handled as it turned different colors.
During one snorkel, Wendy, Kaija & I saw the resident dolphin family swimming nearby, but could not get too close to them as the adults were flanking the juveniles, presumably for protection.


Wendy also spotted a 5" spotted drum protecting his rock from the intrusive diver (me) taking a picture; a grown-up version of the often seen juveniles with the distinctive stripe on their nose. And what's not to love about this cute porcupinefish.
