We cruisers sail from different countries all over the world.
Yet, the one thing that brings us together is our nomad life on the sea. Knowing how much heart & hard work we each put into this life immediately brings us closer together in spirit and Reach is our conduit.
The majority of the cruisers we meet are very kind and we have made many fast friends during our time in this marina. When things happen that are difficult, cruisers can truly empathize together with the benefit of shared experiences.
That is why when the going gets tough ~
... mechanical frustrations, lightning strikes, family joys or troubles so far away, delayed shipments, dinghy theft, fierce storms, water shortages, &tc
~ or when we have reasons to celebrate ~
... successful projects, birthdays, lunch dates, pizza nights, beautiful sunsets, launching boats, road-trips, dinner parties, friend or relatives' visits, &tc
~ we are always ready to offer our commiseration, support and mutual respect to one another.
Our current yoga group has participants from Scotland, Canada, Germany, USA and France. Some have just started as beginners and others have been practicing for longer, but all are enthusiasts. We have fun with it and the amazing outdoor scenery doesn't hurt either.
Housemates during our stay in the marina have come from France, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Denmark (yes, we've been here a while!).
Similar to a dorm, we stagger shower, fridge & kitchen usage
...or collaborate with recipes over a meal together.
I am learning (in theory) how to cook many fabulous international dishes, like Hungarian goulash, chicken paprikas & Uzbek plov!
Boats in the yard hail from all of these countries, including Chile, Australia and others. Along with the friendly locals in Guatemala, together we make life more interesting and bearable, including occasional excursions along the river.
Lovely to be on the water again if only for a launcha ride.
We always enjoy an occasional pet fix of HIGH cuteness factor, like this nibbling kinkajou and licking chihuahua puppy.

Ultimately, after meeting for however long or brief, we each sail away once again. It turns out that now social media is a great way to stay in touch and keep up that mutual support even from a distance, sharing in all of those new experiences of cruising life ~
... ocean crossings, nature discoveries, watching the sun rise, stormy rescues, peaceful anchorages, new recipes!!
Lots of love to ALL y'all - you know who you are!
