Life on the river has many opportunities to socialize or not, depending on preferences or mood. In-between our recent travel within and outside of the country, we try to attend an event here and there to visit our friends and make new ones.
A favorite stop so far has been to Hacienda Tijax, a hotel and marina where friends are living dockside.
Tijax is built in the jungle and is a locally owned nature preserve. I went with Jerie (Peking) & Cindy (Amazing Grace) on a guided hike with resident Lucy through their extensive trail system, a pristinely maintained system of rocks, steps and suspension bridges.
I loved this area for their preserved jungle, since I've been hard-pressed to find such areas here that are not given over to farm land.
We ended with a scenic yoga session in the tower overlooking the town and river, topped off with chocolate cake & chamomile tea to end the evening.

On another occasion, Bob's birthday was celebrated at Vista Rio hotel one evening over corned beef and cabbage.
Vista Rio is right next to Fronteras with a great river view, run by Jay & "little" Jay (Aguila) in a friendly New Orleans home-style setting.
It was an excellent meal and Bob & Jeannie (Island Dreamin') took Suzie's (Cabaret) humor all in good stride to make sure he was sufficiently teased on his birthday.

We met John & Becky here in the process of buying a boat (Coquina), which they've since moved aboard ~ excited for them!

Recently, we got to hang out with them (Coquina), Allen & Patricia (Nauti-Nauti), John & Jerie (Peking) and several other cruisers at Tijax one evening for a cookout and jam session. Allen & Pat hosted us so we could enjoy the whole experience, from a dip in the pool for an evening swim to yoga the next day.
This was not an amateur music night! I counted seven guitars, a mandolin, ukulele, clarinet, harmonica & drum plus many singers. There was some impressive talent making music before the rains came.
