Food & Fun

There is nothing better than eating the catch of the day for dinner.  After arriving to the San Blas well-stocked with meats in our freezer, we were immediately reminded of this reality.

Our first treat was pulpo (octopus) tacos aboard Kaya.  Lizz had recently learned how to cook this delicacy from Gretchen (Infinity).  After boiling and skinning the tentacles, the meat is tender and the flavor rich and decadent, not unlike lobster.  This made for quite the tasty feast, despite the suction cups found all over the place the next day...!

Not only is there fun in the variety of the catch itself, but also in the inspiration of the creations, like the recent sushi feast with Charlie's dog snapper.  Although we've made our share of sushi together in the past, one particular special ingredient (fried sweet plantains) made this a renewed favorite.

We even added a new fish to the dinner list that we'd skipped in the northern Caribbean due to ciguatera issues.  Barracuda are abundant predators, have a wonderful texture to their white, flaky filets and are toxin free down here.

In between all of this feasting, Michele & Lizz can be found out & about for a swim or walk, enjoying the aquatic scenery and island life that surrounds us.
