Favorite Spots

Much of our time in the West Cocos and East Hollandes (The Pool) was spent underwater.  These are two of our favorite anchorages in the San Blas:  scenic, bug-free, bountiful underwater, & relaxingly social.  The only pitfall was that we had a snake aboard Reach late one night that must have floated out from the mainland in debris after a rainstorm (Eek!).  Did I mention how beautiful these places are??

In the Cocos, we ran into Carol (Somerset 33), Denny & Becky (Kokomo), Mark & Liesbet (Irie) & reconnected with Charlie & Lizz (Kaya).  We also met a young family on sabbatical from Bretagne , France.  Their girls were learning to water-ski and we watched their progress each day as they circled the boats.

In the Pool, we got to spend some quality underwater & above water time with Alan & Liz (Kokopelli).  They are very in-tune with life on the reefs and seem to always find reclusive critters hiding out of sight - like eels & toadfish.  Alan also helps to control the lionfish population and they'd better watch out when he's in the water.

By now, we only had a few more weeks to play with Lizz & Charlie on Kaya before they left for some travel, so we made the most of it before heading off to the Lemmons to do some boat projects.  The guys found some thrilling new fishing grounds, where Charlie nabbed a table sized permit & one catch of the day was a king mackerel taking Mark for a ride!  Michele & Lizz had amazing reef access, often right off of our boats.  Our underwater cameras were put into heavy use and we found all sorts of new sea creatures to identify.
